Course Description:

The course’s main goal is to prepare students for writing in an academic setting and in their future professional setting. Students are exposed to the basic styles and organization of academic writing. Students are guided through the writing process to produce well-organized, clearly developed paragraphs.

Course outcome:

1. Produce clear and well-organized paragraphs following the academic format.
2. Write well-developed paragraphs including a topic sentence, relevant supporting details and a conclusion.
3. Analyze sentence structure into simple, compound and complex and construct those types of sentences.
4. Apply capitalization and punctuation rules correctly.
5. Edit fragments, run-on sentences and comma splices.
6. Write coherent paragraphs using the appropriate transition signals.
7. Construct paragraphs that show the process of doing something.
8.Cite and document references using APA style format.
